Classes Term 3, 2023

**PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS WE HAVE MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO THE SCHEDULING**

ALL class participants need to have purchased their annual membership (only $20.00) to attend class. The membership fee ensures you are covered by our insurance.

Due to building delays at our new warehouse location, Term 3 for all aerial classes will be a 9 week term starting Monday 31st July at 38 Princes Hwy, Fairy Meadow.

MONDAY CLASS

Beginners Aerials – Mixed Apparatus (Silks, Lyra, Trapeze) 
Mondays 7 August – 25 September inclusive (8 weeks)
6:30pm – 8:30pm

$224 Full / $200 Concession

For beginners and those who are interested in revisiting the fundamentals. This 9-week block will cover basic skills for aerial silks, lyra and trapeze, including beginner tricks, climbing, inversions, correct technique and building strength and flexibility.

Beginners pre-reqs:
No pre-reqs. For aerialists with limited experience or for those returning after a break who want to revisit beginner skills. Examples of skills taught include French and Russian climb, straddling over from the crash mat and in the air, footlock, hiplock, and skills and sequences in the knot. On trapeze, we’ll cover coming to sit and stand with good technique, and skills like crescent moon, birds nest, gazelle and mermaid.

TUESDAY CLASS 

Intermediate Aerials – Silks, Lyra
Tuesdays 1 August – 26 September   inclusive (9 weeks)  
6:30pm – 8:30pm

Focus on pre-performance conditioning and aerial skills. Intermediate: for those who have mastered the skills in the beginners class and are ready for more!!!

Intermediate pre-reqs:

  • Silks – bent arm hang, straddle over hold (from the ground, and ideally but not essentially from a climb), climb to the top of silks, footlock.  Skills taught at the intermediate level include; basic drops on silks (chair drop, catchers, 360 etc), belays, tissu sequences.
  • Lyra – straddle over (bent arm), active knee hang 10 sec, top bar knee hang. Coming to sit with good technique. Baseline skills include: star, gazelle, mermaid, and front balance.
  • Trapeze – includes coming to sit and stand with good technique, and a routine of 5-7 skills. Trapeze skills include monkey roll, clix, rolls to sit and stand, dismounts.

WEDNESDAY CLASS 

Intermediate Adagio
Wednesdays 9 August – 20 September inclusive (7 weeks) 
6:30pm – 8:30pm

Otherwise known as the fine art of standing on your friend…. Acrobalance is the circus art of creating partner balances and acrobatic skills with two or more people.

Intermediate pre-reqs: Working towards a solid two high and unsupported foot to foot.

Open Training – Floor based
Wednesdays 9 August – 20 September inclusive (7 weeks)
8:00pm – 9:30pm

$10 per person – Pre-payment is required as we don’t take cash.

Come and play on the gear, practice what you’ve been learning in classes. This is a space for self-directed practice without a trainer. Please be mindful to work within your competency in this space!

THURSDAY CLASSES

Advanced Aerials Silks
Thursdays 3 August – 28 September inclusive (9 weeks)
6:30pm – 8:30pm

In this class, we’ll learn new skills and transitions, construct sequences and routines. This class is for experienced aerialists who want to expand their skill set while building strength and endurance.

Advance pre-reqs:
Confident and consistent straddle over from a climb on silks. Hiplock from a climb (any technique). Stamina and fitness to begin working on sequences and routine building. A wide range of skills on silks. Strong body awareness and knowledge of own limitations and strengths.


Acquired Taste Choir

2nd & 4th Thursdays of the Month
Dates: 27 July, 10 August, 24 August & 14 September

LOCATION: Coniston Community Centre

A community social choir with a unique circus edge! Join us in vocal experimentation, percussive exploration, and the joy of connection, as we create our own renditions of our favourite songs. No audition is required.

WORKSHOP

Hoops Workshop – Spinning into Spring
Sunday 27 August

Has it been a while since you picked up your hoop? Join Sarah for a pop-up workshop to bring a spring into your spin! This workshop will focus on transitions from spinning your hoop in one plane or pathway to another. Most importantly, we will have fun hooping together in WOW’s new home!

SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Open Training

Intro to Aerials
Sundays 6 August – 27 August inclusive (4 weeks)

This class is for those who are brand new to aerials. These 1.5 classes will cover foundational skills to help you get in the air and learning beginner tricks on silks, trapeze, and lyra. We will spend time gradually building strength and flexibility on the ground and in the air.

Intro to Circus
Sundays 3 September – 24 September inclusive (4 weeks)
4:30pm – 6:00pm

$84 Full / $74 Concession


Adagio, juggling and hoops galore! Come and try the art of standing on your friend, throwing things in the air and dancing with a hoop.

Intro pre-reqs: New to aerials and/or adagio. No fitness or skills prerequisites.

Please note:

  1. Casual class tickets will no longer be offered for aerials and adagio given the administrative workload associated. They are still available for choir and hoops. We have offered make-up classes during COVID to support members to stay away if unwell. This policy will also be revised.
  2. All class participants need to have purchased their annual membership (only $20.00) to attend class. The membership fee ensures you are covered by our insurance.
